About Jessica

Jessica is a personal journal about dating and relationships — the awkward first dates, the conversations that go nowhere, the ones that unexpectedly do, and everything in between. It started as long messages to friends and turned into a blog when I realised the same questions kept coming up: where to go on a first date, how to write a dating profile that doesn't sound like everyone else's, when to call it quits, and how to stay hopeful without being naive.

Who writes this?

Hi, I'm Sally. I live in Kuala Lumpur, work a fairly ordinary office job, and have spent the better part of a decade dating in this city — which means I have opinions about coffee shops, skyline views and the correct way to split a bill on a first date. I'm not a therapist, a coach or a guru. Everything here is personal experience, conversations with friends, and a lot of trial and error.

What you'll find here

Practical, honest writing about modern dating: first date ideas, online dating advice, how to keep a conversation alive, what changes after thirty, and how to spot trouble early. Because I live in KL, some of it comes with local flavour — the cafés, parks and neighbourhoods that make this city a surprisingly good place to fall in love.
